On this site you will read an interview. I want you to select at least 5 questions from the interview, and write on paper, or my comments your reaction, (thoughts or feeling you had). Next look at the pictures, choose one photo to respond to on my blog, or on your paper. You may respond on the site, but remember I can't see your response unless you write it down and turn it in, or comment on my page. Lastly go through game space, and brain power. You may not get the answers correct, but the important part is to read about important people that fought for civil rights.
Questions: Answer these questions on your paper, or in my comments.
1.Were civil rights for only some citizens? Why, or why not?
2. Who were 3 people you learned about through this site? Name the person and what they did.
3. How do civil right effect your life?
This assignment is worth 50 points so do your best.

1. I think she reacted like anybody would, but she was also brave and detirmined toto change Little Rock.
2. I think she was just curious.
5.That's hard knowing kids have been taught that stuff, and have been punished for doing the right thing.
6. Teachers are supposed to help you, not ignore you.
10. I'm glad she found people that she feels safe with.
*Pic*Nomatter your color, religion, or gender we're all Americans and come together as one. If these children can get along and become friends, can't we all?
(where civil rights for only some citizens? why or why not?) No, it was for all citizens. because everyone should have the same rights.
(who where 3 people you learned about through this site? name the people and what they did.) Melba beals, was one of the first black students to attend little rock high. marcus garvey, he fought for hard causes of the economic freedom and racial pride. ida wells, fought for the justice of african americans.
(how do civil rights effect your life) Because if we didn't have civil rights then we would still have separate bathrooms, water fountains, and even schools. If we had to have different schools for whites and blacks that would be terrible!
reactions to 5 interview questions)
#6 - Terrible that the teachers ignored the blacks while the white kids spit on them and kicked them! I cant believe that the teachers wouldn't do something about this behavior.
#8 - Its cool that while in the media spotlight that she felt safe during photos being taken, because she knew nothing could physically happen to her during these times.
#1 - Probably scary the first day that she went in knowing that she was the minority walking into an all white school.
#7 - She drew strength from her strong faith in God instilled in her from her Grandmother.
#5 - The children that actually wanted to be nice to the blacks had to eventually go along with the organization to mistreat them because they were also afraid to get hurt for being nice to them.
Photo reaction)
my first reaction looking at the photo with black and white children running together with smiles on their faces was "happiness"...it looks like they are all running together, whites and blacks, with all having smiles on their faces having fun and enjoying each other. Maybe they are going to play together?
