Code Orange

Your new book will be Code Orange, by Caroline Cooney. It is an exciting mystery I know you will enjoy. It can be picked up at Empire, Boarders or at amazon.com. One more place you can try is the following site: http://www.deepdiscount.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=8888917&extid=df_googlebase&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=RHCPM573260

I will expect everyone to have the book by next Monday. Don't forget your final Mockingbird test will be this Friday. It will mostly be essay questions, so you may want to study the two sites I put on here for Mockingbird.

Weather Challenge

This is the site for weather. I want you to play the game, then comment what you thought about it, and give your score. You get 20 points just for doing this.

Weather

I want you to go to this site. You will see a map with glowing yellow-orange areas. Follow the directions to find out really amazing information. Once you have clicked on all the "hot spots" you will click on the comments section and write a paragraph on what you learned from each hot spot. You must have at least 4 paragraphs explaining what you learned from each hot spot. You are not required to write your responses in the comments section. You may write your responses on a piece of paper and turn it in to me. This assignment is worth 40 points. Points will be taken for not writing information in your own words, for not given enough information, for not having a complete paragraph. Please do your best.

Thank you.

Mockingbird Notes

Here is the site I really did not want you to use, however I feel that it is hard for some of you to understand, or remember what read a few days ago. Here is the issue, if you choose only to read the information from this site it will not fully prepare you for the test, quizzes or conversations, therefore it is very important that you read the chapter. This site is mainly for you to review only.http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/LitNote/To-Kill-a-Mockingbird.id-143.html

Civil Rights

On this site you will read an interview. I want you to select at least 5 questions from the interview, and write on paper, or my comments your reaction, (thoughts or feeling you had). Next look at the pictures, choose one photo to respond to on my blog, or on your paper. You may respond on the site, but remember I can't see your response unless you write it down and turn it in, or comment on my page. Lastly go through game space, and brain power. You may not get the answers correct, but the important part is to read about important people that fought for civil rights.

Questions: Answer these questions on your paper, or in my comments.

1.Were civil rights for only some citizens? Why, or why not?

2. Who were 3 people you learned about through this site? Name the person and what they did.

3. How do civil right effect your life?
This assignment is worth 50 points so do your best.
